For a young child who has a spinal-cord injury, who you want to be down and playing on the floor, you want to insure that if they’re crawling around on the floor, they’re not creating skin problems on their knees or their legs as their dragging legs behind. You may want to ensure that they have a scooter, or something that allows them to be able to access a room, and a play room to get to toys. For many young children, standing up at a tabletop is important to be able to do hands-on activities and play. So, using a device such as a parapodium, which allows a child to stand up at a table and be hands free, to manipulate the toys and activities that a typical four-or five-year-old would manipulate is important.
